Over the last couple of years, Marvel Comics have been releasing what is known as the Epic Collection line. These six trades are like phonebooks, about 300-500 pages per trade (according to Wikipedia), and the ones that are out are collecting periods in characters' histories that many other trades tend to ignore.
I love these trades, as I'm a bit of a history buff, and it's really cool reading some of these lesser-known adventures. Not to mention there's some great stories in these six tomes so far: The origin of Count Nefaria and his first battle with the Avengers, Obadiah Stane stealing away Tony Stark/Iron Man's company and driving him back to the bottle, Captain America battling the Red Skull in Hollywood, Ben Grimm returning to the Fantastic Four after his solo adventures, Thor's epic battle with Seth, and Spider-Man's brief jaunt as a cosmic-level powerhouse.
I highly recommend getting these trades, as they are nice, long, and fun reads. Also, there are more on the way. Iron Man will get another collection: War Games, and the Avengers will also have another: Judgment Day. I cannot wait!
